Sylmar Resident Arrested in Connection with Series of Residential Burglaries
On September 12, 2023, the Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD) launched an investigation into a Residential Burglary in the 2400 block of Cedarwood Circle. The diligent efforts of SVPD patrol officers resulted in a comprehensive report identifying stolen property and vital investigative leads. Subsequently, detectives pursued these leads and successfully identified the suspect as 29-year-old Eduardo Rodriguez, hailing from the Sylmar area in Los Angeles.
Further investigation revealed that Rodriguez had not only committed the initial burglary but was also responsible for an additional Residential Burglary on September 14, 2023, in the 2900 block of Racine St. in Simi Valley, as well as a Hot Prowl Burglary in the 2200 block of Trinway Ave., also in Simi Valley.
In a coordinated effort, on September 19, 2023, at approximately 6:00 AM, multiple members of the Simi Valley Police Department, alongside members of the Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force, conducted a surveillance operation in the 12700 block of Herrick Ave. in Sylmar. Around 11:00 AM, Eduardo Rodriguez was observed leaving the residence, leading to his apprehension. Rodriguez was found in possession of a loaded firearm, narcotics, and suspected stolen property.
A subsequent search warrant executed at Rodriguez's residence yielded even more evidence, including additional firearms, a ballistic vest, and stolen property linked to at least one Simi Valley burglary. Notably, Rodriguez, a previously convicted felon, now faces charges related to the burglaries and a variety of weapons-related offenses.
The Simi Valley Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community. We commend the dedication and teamwork of our officers and law enforcement partners that led to the successful resolution of this case.
