Deputies Locate a Stolen Vehicle; Suspect Arrested after Short Pursuit

INCIDENT: Stolen Vehicle, Failure to Yield with Disregard for Safety
LOCATION: Mojave Drive and Village Drive, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Gustavo Sanchez, 27-year-old resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On Friday, September 15, 2023, deputies from the Victorville Police Department observed an older model pickup truck matching the description of a stolen vehicle, in the area of Mojave Drive and Village Drive. A records check of the vehicle confirmed it was stolen out of the city of Fontana.
Deputies initiated traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Gustavo Sanchez, failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit. During the pursuit, the driver drove at high rates of speed through residential areas with disregard for public safety. The pursuit continued until the vehicle stopped in a dirt field just west of the I-15 freeway. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies apprehended Sanchez, and he was found to be on felony probation.
Sanchez was booked at High Desert Detention Center for felony evading with disregard for safety and possession of a stolen vehicle.
