Thank You Janesville
 
As I complete my final day here at the Janesville Police Department I want to send out a heartfelt thank you to Janesville. 
 
Janesville is truly a unique community that is willing to stand up and fight for our future.  In 2008 when we lost our General Motors plant and all of the related jobs, we could have wallowed in self-pity and lost our community to crime, disorder, poverty, loss of population and lack of employment.  Rather, as a community we stood up and fought for the Janesville that we all know and respect.
 
Flash forward to today, we have more jobs than we have workers and more workers than available housing.  Today we enjoy a vibrant, safe and growing community.
 
Along the way, our community always supported our police officers.  Even during the challenges of our post-Minneapolis world when many communities chose not to support their police and called for the defunding of the police, Janesville stood tall and supported our officers.
 
It is only with a supportive community that the police can be successful.  It is only with a supportive community that we can have a safe community.
 
Thank you Janesville, for allowing your police department to provide the police services that we do.
