Police Seek Help Identifying Robbery and Carjacking Suspect, Man Wanted for Questioning

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help identifying the below-pictured male suspects in connection with a robbery and carjacking that occurred on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

At approximately 3:50 a.m., Police patrolling the area of North 9th Street near 6th Avenue West were flagged down by a robbery and carjacking victim. After exiting his vehicle, the victim was approached by two Black males who demanded his belongings. One of the suspects motioned as if he had a weapon before assaulting the victim and removing his car keys, wallet, and iPhone from his pockets. The suspects stole the victim’s vehicle, which was recovered later that day.

Detectives investigating this incident observed on surveillance cameras the below-pictured robbery and carjacking suspect (left) and another male (right) who spoke with the suspects before and after the incident. Police seek the public’s help in quickly identifying both males for questioning.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
