El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from September 10th to September 16th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from September 10th to September 16th.

September 10th


Vehicle Theft – 900 Liberty St:  
At 8:10 AM, a neighbor saw an unidentified suspect drive off in the victim’s 2019 vehicle.

Recovered Stolen Vehicles / Possess Stolen Property – 6060 Central Ave (Nations):
At 9:05 AM, El Cerrito units received a Flock hit for two stolen vehicles traveling southbound on Carlson Blvd at San Jose Ave.  An officer located both vehicles parked in the Nation’s lot, and the female driver of one of the vehicles was arrested.  The male driver of the other vehicle was also arrested as he came out of Nation’s. 
 
Fraudulent Use of Access Card – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreen’s):
At 8:52 AM, a suspect used the victim’s stolen credit card at Walgreen’s to buy gift cards.  The card was in a wallet that was reported stolen in Pinole, and the victim was referred to ECPD for the fraudulent card use.

Vehicle Burglary – 2300 block Tamalpais Ave:
At 4:02 AM, a suspect shattered the right front window of the victim’s vehicle and ransacked the interior, stealing items.

Vehicle Tampering – 6700 block Glen Mawr Ave:
A suspect shattered the right front window of the victim’s vehicle and ransacked the interior but took nothing at 0341 hours.

September 11th

Mail Theft – 900 block of Ashbury Ave.
At 1:12PM a suspect stole the victims’ mail from their mailbox.    

Violation of a Protection Order – 11545 San Pablo Ave.
 At 1:46PM an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check and arrested the passenger for being in violation of a court protection order.  The subject was booked at the police department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Grand Theft- BART path/Knott Ave:
At 7:14PM victim was walking northbound on the BART path when the suspect approached her from behind and removed a cellphone from the victim’s pants pockets.

Stolen Vehicle/Hit and Run/Fleeing from Police – 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 7:50PM the Flock system alerted to a stolen vehicle in the south end of the City.  An officer located it parked in front of the CVS store.  When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver drove on the sidewalk, striking two pillars, and fled out of the El Cerrito Plaza

Vandalism – 3090 EL Cerrito Plaza (Starbucks):
At 11:06PM officers arrested a suspect who shattered the windows to the business.  The suspect was booked at El Cerrito PD and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.    
 
September 12th

Vandalism – 6700 block of Eureka Ave.
At 9:52AM an unknown suspect threw a rock through the front window of a residence.

Skimming Device – 10422 San Pablo Ave (Bank of America)
At 11:52AM a technician located a skimming device in an ATM machine.  

Grand Theft – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway)
At 6:22PM the elderly victim was scammed by two suspects inside the store.  The suspects told the victim they won a large some of money and needed assistance donating it.  They asked the victim to donate some also, so the victim withdrew cash from their bank and gave it to the suspects.  The suspects fled the area with the victim’s money.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon - 11319 San Pablo Ave (Chevron):
At 9:18PM the suspect attempted to steal a bottle of wine from the store.  When the employee confronted them, the suspect threw the bottle at the employee.  Officer located the suspect and placed him under arrest.  The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.   

Stolen Vehicle - 800 block of Kearney St:
At 8:50PM, the victim’s vehicle was stolen from in front of their residence. 

September 13th

Robbery - 9950 San Pablo Ave (Chase):
At 8:06PM after leaving the ATM machine, the suspect took the victims wallet and fled in a vehicle.  

Attempted Carjacking - 6050 El Cerrito Plaza-IFO Barnes and Noble:
At 9:03PM while the victim was seated in her parked vehicle, the suspect vehicle blocked her in.  The suspect then tried to open the victim’s door handled but it was locked.  The suspect then fled the area.
 
Shoplifting - 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 8:49PM two suspects filled two bags worth of merchandise and fled the store with the items after their check was declined.    
 
September 14th

Shoplifting – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 2:16PM the suspect stole merchandise and fled in a vehicle.

Robbery/Criminal Threats/Conspiracy/Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway)
At 8:29PM, three suspects were confronted by Security guards when they stole items from the store.  The suspects threatened to kill and shoot the security guards.  One suspect pulled out a taser and threatened them with it.  The security guards pepper sprayed the suspect, who then fled towards the Del Norte BART station.  Two of the three suspects were caught by responding officers, and one fled the area.  One suspect had a warrant for robbery. The suspects were booked at ECPD and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

September 15th

Petty Theft - 800 block of Kearney Street:
At 6:30PM an officer reports that the license plate from the victim's vehicle was stolen between September 12th and 15th.  

Arson - 11481 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2:52AM officers were sent to the report of a fire.  They found several bushes on fire.  THe El Cerrito Fire Department resopondedd and extniguished the fires.  It is unknown who set the bushes on fire.  

September 16
