INCIDENT: Lethal Force Encounter
LOCATION: Central Avenue and San Bernardino Street, Montclair
SUSPECT(S): Dennis Flowers Jr., 32-year-old West Covina Resident
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at approximately 2:28 p.m., deputies with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a reported domestic violence assault in the 7800 block of Haven Avenue, in Rancho Cucamonga. As deputies arrived, the suspect, Dennis Flowers, fled the scene in a Chevrolet Equinox. A pursuit ensued until Flowers exited the Equinox, got into his BMW sedan, and continued to evade deputies toward the city of Montclair. Deputies subsequently discontinued the pursuit.
A short time later the suspect was observed at a gas station at Central Avenue and San Bernardino Street, in Montclair. When deputies arrived, Flowers rammed into the patrol vehicle and a lethal force encounter occurred. Flowers was struck by fire gunfire, transported to a local hospital for treatment, and released to the custody of the Montclair Police Department who is handling the investigation.
A San Bernardino County Probation Officer was with the deputies during the incident and sustained minor injuries due to Flowers ramming the vehicle. The officer was treated for injuries and released from the hospital.
