URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 635 AM AKDT Mon Sep 25 2023 AKZ181-261400- /O.NEW.PAFC.AF.Y.0002.230925T1435Z-230926T1400Z/ Alaska Peninsula- Including the cities of Cold Bay and Sand Point 635 AM AKDT Mon Sep 25 2023 ...ASHFALL ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM AKDT TUESDAY... * WHAT...Up to one quarter inch of ashfall accumulation. * WHERE...False Pass. * WHEN...Until 6 AM AKDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Minor equipment and infrastructure damage. Reduced visibility. Persons with respiratory problems may have difficulty breathing when outside. Electronic devices may be damaged if not protected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As of 0545 AM this morning, satellite imagery indicates that an eruption is ongoing at Shishaldin Volcano. Ash is being lofted to the south and east of the volcano, which may lead to minor ashfall amounts for the community of False Pass. Trace amounts are still expected at King Cove and Cold Bay. This statement will be updated if conditions change. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... An ashfall advisory means that ash will be deposited in the advisory area. People in areas of ashfall should seal windows and doors. Protect electronics and cover air intakes and open water supplies. Minimize driving. Listen to your radio station for further information.
