INCIDENT: 5th Annual Steamboat Cove Underwater Cleanup
LOCATION: Steamboat Cove, Lake Havasu
SUMMARY: On Sunday September 24, 2023, members of the San Bernardino Sheriff's Dive Rescue team joined members of Mohave County Sheriff, Lake Havasu City Police Department and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) divers in the 5th annual Steamboat Cove Underwater Cleanup. This event was hosted by the Lake Havasu Divers Association, Lake Havasu City Sea Scouts and BLM.
A total of 31 divers and 29 land volunteers spent a combined 31 hours underwater at the Steamboat Cove Cleanup. Underwater finds included anchors, sunglasses, old liquid bottles, aluminum cans and other various articles of trash. San Bernardino Sheriff Divers were able to locate a flying drone that was reported crashed and submerged the week prior. The submerged drone was located and returned to its owner.
The Colorado River Station Dive Rescue team would like to thank the Lake Havasu Divers Association, Lake Havasu Sea Scouts and BLM for allowing our members to be apart of their annual cleanup.
