Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka announced the promotion of two members of the city’s Department of Public Safety. Effective October 1, 2023, Rufus Jackson, formerly Newark Fire Chief, will become Assistant Public Safety Director. Del Ortiz, formerly Newark Fire Battalion Chief will become the city’s Chief of Fire. Public Safety Director Fritz G.
