Heavy rainfall to bring a significant flooding event tomorrow, Friday, September 29
The North Brunswick Office of Emergency Management advises residents of a very impactful flooding event, with 2"+ amounts and even localized 4"+ amounts popping up around the area tomorrow.
The following is the most recent alert/forecast from the weather agency our Township utilizes.
“The question with this setup is not if flooding will occur, as sensitive grounds from previous rainfall will prime the area for flash flooding. It will be just how significant flooding issues get.
With the best case scenario, we see 1"+ amounts mostly, causing streams/creeks to see issues and low lying urban areas having ponding. If places do pick up 3", 4", or even higher amounts of rain, there will be major problems.
This is the kind of event that leads to impassible roads and multiple water rescues, considering the heaviest of the rain will occur during the morning rush and again late day. Flooding issues linger, but the heaviest rain gradually lessens in the late evening.”
Please use caution while driving tomorrow.
We will provide updates as necessary beginning tomorrow morning.
