Weather Information Bulletin - September 28, 2023
Fair Lawn Emergency Management is monitoring the coastal system that is the trailing edge of Tropical Storm Ophelia. Current forecast for Bergen County indicate precipitation beginning late afternoon/early evening and continue through early Saturday morning.
Rainfall amounts expected to range from a half inch and higher amounts moving toward the north at around 1.5-2 inches. There a possibility of isolated pockets of heavy rain producing higher rainfall amounts over 2-3 inches in some areas. There is also a risk of isolated thunderstorms to develop later tonight and into tomorrow with wind gusts up to 45mph and lightening as the main hazards.
Temperatures will remain in the low 60's and upper 50's though out this event. Winds will be 8-10mph with gusts up to 20mph. Main thunderstorm risk seem to be early pre-dawn and late afternoon on Friday. With the recent significant rainfalls and the higher than usual ground saturation, more run off is expected resulting some areas to experience urban road way flooding, higher than usual stream and creek conditions.
Fair Lawn Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as necessary.
