RE: Coastal Storm/Flood Watch
The National Weather Service is tracking a coastal storm system expected to move into our region beginning late tonight and continuing through Friday with some lingering showers into Saturday.
Heavy showers and possible thunderstorms will arrive after midnight tonight and into the afternoon and evening hours Friday. Total rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are currently forecast with locally higher amounts possible. Timing and location of the heaviest rainfall remains uncertain.
The ground is already saturated following the 5 days of rain from Tropical Storm Ophelia. That could mean roads and grounds may experience flash floods. If a road is flooded, turn around.
Brush and trash in the road prevents the water from flowing to the storm sewers to drain. Please help your neighbors and keep storm drains clear and unblocked.
If you should lose power, report your outage by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com, or by texting out to 544487.
Please stay safe.
