PLANNED POWER OUTAGE NOTIFICATION FOR SILVERTON AREA:
San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) needs to replace critical equipment in the Cement Creek substation. This work will require power in the Town of Silverton to be turned off overnight from 10:00 PM, October 3rd to 2:00 AM October 4th. Take the following steps:
- Sign up for San Juan County/Silverton Public Alert and Warnings via Nixle. Text 81433 to 888-777 or go to https://www.nixle.com/ and sign up.
- Have back up power and heating and test it on October 3.
- If you have any durable medical equipment have a back up power source
- Review your personal and family emergency preparedness plan and update it.
When: Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023
Between 10:00 PM and 2:00 AM, October 4th (appx. 4 hrs.)
Area Affected: The entire Silverton area, all circuits out of the Cement Creek substation.
Purpose: To replace substation regulators, which stabilize voltage for power delivery to all services in the Silverton area.
