Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Weeks of August 28-September 24, 2023

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.  
 
  
Robberies
 
There were five robberies during the past four weeks.
 
On Monday, 08-28-23, at approximately 4:08 p.m. on the 7000 block of Mission Street, two suspects robbed two victims of their gold necklaces worth approximately $2,650. One of the suspects raised his shirt, revealing the black handle of a handgun. The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 18 to 19 years old, 5’2” to 5’3” tall, 120 to 130 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, jacket with three triangle sub-divisions colored black, blue, and white, and black pants. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 18 to 19 years old, 5’7” to 5’8” tall, 150 to 160 pounds, with blue eyes, brown curly hair, and wore a white and blue mask, windbreaker where the top half is white and bottom half is black, and blue jeans. Both suspects walked away southbound on Mission Street and turned onto West Moltke Street. This investigation is continuing. 
 
On Friday, 09-01-23, at approximately midnight, on the 200 block of Rio Verde Street, a suspect robbed a victim of his belongings. The victim stated as he was walking home, he suddenly felt the presence of someone walking behind him and then someone grabbing his backpack. The victim turned around to face the suspect and saw the suspect holding a gun. The suspect then pressed the gun to his stomach and demanded his belongings. The suspect took a backpack containing miscellaneous items, a red Apple iPhone 13, and a black camouflage wallet containing a CA ID card and a credit card. The loss was valued at approximately $1,000. The suspect fled eastbound on Otilia Street. The victim described the suspect as a thin Black male, approximately 5’11” tall, wearing black pants, a black hooded sweater, and a black ski mask.
 
On Monday, 09-11-23, at approximately 7:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to the ATMs located at Wells Fargo at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. A victim was withdrawing money from the ATM when he heard a loud commotion from the northeastern section of the building. The victim saw four to five suspects run toward him. One of the suspects pushed him to the ground, and the suspects went through the victim’s belongings and took his house key, car keys, and a wallet containing multiple credit cards and $370 cash. The suspects entered a gray BMW 840i and fled toward Serramonte Boulevard and Gellert Boulevard. The victim described all the suspects as thin Black males who were 5’8” to 5’9” tall, all wearing black-colored clothing and had hoodies on. One of the suspects wore a mask. This investigation is continuing. 
 
On Tuesday, 09-12-23, at approximately 6:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to Lucky Supermarket on Mission Street on a report of a disturbance. A suspect had come into the store and tried to take merchandise. The suspect eventually left without taking anything and left the bags of merchandise behind. At approximately 9:09 a.m., the suspect returned and carried a bag full of merchandise toward the exit. As two employees told the suspect to pay for the merchandise, the suspect said, “Do you want to get shot?” The suspect left with approximately $55 worth of stolen merchandise. Officers located the suspect on Mission Street and Price Street. The suspect, a 28-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.
 
On Sunday, 09-17-23, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walgreens on Mission Street on a report of a robbery. A Walgreens clerk stated that he observed the suspect in the shampoo aisle stuffing multiple shampoo products into a duffle bag. The clerk told the suspect that he needed to leave, and the suspect pulled a wrench out of his pocket. Another employee, the shift lead, was concerned for the clerk’s safety and asked the clerk to step back away from the suspect. The suspect exited Walgreens with approximately $290 worth of shampoo products and boarded a bus. Officers located the suspect and detained him. The suspect, a 17-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into the Youth Services Center for robbery.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There were no residential burglaries during the past four weeks.
 
 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There were five commercial burglaries during the past four weeks.
 
On Saturday, 09-02-23, between 1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m., a suspect inserted a skimming device and gift card into an ATM at the Bank of America on Gellert Boulevard. The skimmer and gift card were subsequently removed by an employee of Diebold Nixdorf, an ATM supplier for banks. This employee stated that the skimmer and gift card caused the ATM to go out of service and no other patrons were able to use the machine. This investigation is continuing.
 
Between Thursday, 09-07-23, and Monday, 09-11-23, at unknown times, an unknown suspect cut the lock of a locker at the Public Storage facility located on the 1000 block of King Drive. The amount of loss is unknown.
 
On Friday, 09-08-23, at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to Outback Steakhouse on Gellert Boulevard on a report of a commercial burglary alarm. The suspects shattered the glass door and entered the business. The suspects dragged a safe containing $4,000 outside the business but were not able to load it into the suspect vehicle. All suspects left without the safe. The three suspects were described as males, all wearing black-colored clothing. The suspect vehicle is a dark-colored crossover, possibly a Subaru Outback.
 
Between Wednesday, 09-13-23, at 10:15 p.m. and Thursday, 09-14-23, at 6:30 a.m., Punj Liquors at Skyline Plaza was the victim of commercial burglary. The unknown suspect(s) smashed a window to gain access to the business. The suspect(s) took approximately $6,950 in liquor and cigarettes and fled.
 
On Saturday, 09-16-23, at approximately 6:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to T-Mobile on Gellert Boulevard on a report of a theft. A suspect entered the store and stole seven iPhones worth approximately $7,000 from their displays. The suspect ran out of the store and fled northbound on Gellert Boulevard. The suspect was described as a heavyset Black male with dreadlocks wearing a black beanie, blue mask, black hooded sweatshirt, and brown cargo pants. This investigation is continuing.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There were twenty-six vehicle burglaries during the past four weeks.
 

  • 1800 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—clothing, canned food, satchels, and a backpack were taken from a 2021 Toyota RAV4. The rear passenger window was broken. Occurred on 09-01-23 at approximately 11:25 p.m.
 
  • 400 block of Oriente Street —luggage, shoes, and clothes were taken from a 2011 Honda Accord. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 09-02-23 between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • 400 block of Oriente Street—work tools were taken from a 2016 Toyota Camry. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 09-02-23 between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • 300 block of Dennis Drive—unknown if anything was taken from a 2008 Ford Utility Truck. The driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred between an unknown time on 09-06-23 and 5:38 a.m. on 09-07-23.
 
  • 600 block of Hickey Boulevard—tools were taken from a 2015 Toyota Tacoma. The rear door was manipulated. Occurred on 09-06-23 at approximately 5:00 a.m.
 
  • 200 block of Warwick Street—tools were taken from a 2014 Ford F250. The rear driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on 09-06-23 and 6:45 a.m. on 09-07-23.
 
  • Parking lot of Planet Fitness on Junipero Serra Boulevard—a green backpack was taken from a 2012 Scion XD. The rear passenger side window was smashed. Occurred on 09-08-23 between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near Macy’s—purse containing a wallet with CA driver’s license, credit card, and debit card was taken from a 2022 Toyota Sienna. The suspect took the victim’s purse from the center console. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 5’6” tall, wearing all-black clothing. Occurred on 09-08-23 at approximately 4:35 p.m.
 
  • Unit block of Muirwood Drive—a key copy machine, lock pick sets, and tools were taken from a 2015 Ford Transit. Unknown method of entry. Occurred on 09-11-23 at approximately 2:42 a.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned below in the Stolen Vehicle section.
 
  • Peoria Street and Evergreen Avenue —a window shade was taken from a 2016 Kia Soul. The rear passenger window was broken. Occurred on 09-11-23 at approximately 5:03 a.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned below in the Stolen Vehicle section.
 
  • Unit block of Edgemont Drive—marijuana wax, bong, and earphones were taken from a 2015 Honda Civic. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 09-12-23 at approximately 7:00 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • 100 block of Wilshire Avenue—a camping chair was taken from a 2015 Acura MDX. The rear windshield was smashed. Occurred between 7:30 p.m. on 09-12-23 and 6:00 a.m. on 09-13-23.
 
  • 200 block of Lakeshire Drive—unknown miscellaneous items were taken from a 2017 Subaru Outback. The trunk window was broken. Occurred between 11:00 p.m. on 09-12-23 and 7:15 a.m. on 09-13-23. **Online report.
 
  • 600 block of Serramonte Boulevard—volleyball was taken from a 2003 Honda Pilot. The trunk window was smashed. Occurred on 09-13-23 at approximately 6:30 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • Alta Loma Avenue and Saint James Court—sunglasses, backpack, and an Apple MacBook Pro were taken from a 2017 Lexus ES300. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on 09-13-23 and 6:30 a.m. on 09-14-23.
 
  • 300 block of Eastmoor Avenue—nothing was taken from a 2008 Acura TL. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 5:30 p.m. on 09-13-23 and 7:10 a.m. on 09-14-23.
 
  • Eastmoor Avenue and Camelia Drive —nothing was taken from a 2019 Honda Civic. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 09-13-23 and 7:10 a.m. on 09-14-23.
 
  • 100 block of San Juan Avenue—clothes drying rack, shower curtain set, vacuum, floating LED stand wall mount, tools, and scrubbers were taken from a 2018 Ford Escape. The rear windshield was smashed. Occurred between 7:30 p.m. on 09-13-23 and 8:00 a.m. on 09-14-23. **Online report.
 
  • Alta Loma Avenue and James Court—an Apple MacBook was taken from a 2015 Dodge Charger. The driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred on 09-14-23 between 5:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
 
  • Parking lot of Bank of the West on Gellert Boulevard—plumbing tools were taken from a 2018 Chevrolet Express. The passenger rear door lock was punched and broken. Occurred on 09-14-23 at approximately 1:42 p.m.
 
  • 6100 block of Mission Street—a gold chain necklace was taken from a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The rear liftgate window was smashed. Occurred on 09-15-23 between 2:30 p.m. and 2:50 p.m. **Online report.
 
  • 300 block of Price Street—miscellaneous tools were taken from a 2001 Toyota Tacoma. The rear driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred between 7:30 p.m. on 09-16-23 and 4:45 a.m. on 09-18-23.
 
  • 200 block of Thiers Street—a pressure washer, power tools, hand tool set, a gallon of wood stain, a bible, and reading glasses were taken from a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The tailgate was found open. Occurred between 11:29 p.m. on 09-17-23 and 9:00 a.m. on 09-18-23.
 
  • 100 block of Saint Michaels Court—a public address (PA) system was taken from a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA250. Unknown method of entry. Occurred on 09-18-23 at approximately 9:20 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • Glenwood Avenue and Oaklawn Drive—nothing was taken from a 2014 Lexus GS350. The sunroof was smashed. Occurred on 09-20-23 at approximately 9:12 p.m.
 
  • 600 block of Hanover Street—vehicle registration and insurance card were taken from a 2014 Volkswagen Passat. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 09-23-23 between 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. **Online report.
 
  
Stolen Vehicles  
 
There were thirty-one stolen vehicles and six attempted stolen vehicles during the past four weeks. Sixteen vehicles were recovered.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near Buffalo Wild Wings—a 2015 Lexus GS250. Occurred on 08-29-23 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
 
  • Auto Return located on the 2600 block of Bayshore Boulevard—a 2007 Kawasaki KTX-250t. Occurred on 08-31-23 at approximately 7:10 a.m. On 09-05-23, a 27-year-old Orangevale resident was arrested and booked into jail for stolen vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.
 
  • Parking garage on the 2000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—a 2015 Kia Sorento. Occurred on 08-31-23 between 7:50 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
 
  • 200 block of School Street—a 2023 Ford Transit. Occurred on 08-31-23 at approximately 6:00 p.m.
 
  • 100 block of Northridge Drive—a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. Occurred on 09-02-23 at approximately 1:10 a.m.
 
  • Rio Verde Street and Geneva Avenue—a 2021 Nissan Sentra. Occurred on 09-04-23 between 12:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. **Recovered by Oakland CHP on 09-05-23.
 
  • Unit block of Berta Circle—a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 09-05-23 and 6:30 a.m. on 09-06-23. **Recovered by San Leandro PD on 09-11-23.
 
  • Unit block of Ward Court—a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. Occurred on 09-06-23 between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. **Recovered by Oakland PD on 09-10-23.
 
  • Goethe Street and Mission Street—a 2016 Jeep Compass. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on 09-06-23 and 10:23 a.m. on 09-11-23. **Recovered by SFPD on 09-13-23.
 
  • 100 block of Linda Vista Drive—a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS. Occurred on 09-07-23 at approximately 4:52 a.m.
 
  • Hickey Boulevard and Saint Francis Boulevard—a 2002 Acura CL. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 09-07-23 and 9:00 a.m. on 09-08-23. **Recovered by SFPD on 09-08-23.
 
  • Abbot Avenue and Byrne Street—a 2003 Honda Accord. Occurred on 09-08-23 between 7:54 a.m. and 5:05 p.m.
 
  • 300 block of Imperial Way—a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic. Occurred between morning hours on 09-09-23 and 6:00 p.m. on 09-10-23. **Recovered by SFPD on 09-11-23.
 
  • 1000 block of Hanover Street—a 2015 Infiniti Q50. Occurred between 10:00 a.m. on 09-10-23 and 6:30 a.m. on 09-11-23.

  • Roosevelt Street and Alexander Avenue—a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. Occurred between 6:45 p.m. on 09-17-23 and 5:30 a.m. on 09-18-23. **Recovered by Oakland PD on 09-20-23.
 
  • Unit block of Lakewood Drive—a 2005 GMC Yukon. Occurred on 09-17-23 between 11:40 p.m. and 11:55 p.m. **Recovered by Newark PD on 09-18-23.
 
  • 200 block of San Diego Avenue—a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred on 09-20-23 at approximately 2:45 p.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 09-22-23.
 
  • Unit block of Northgate Avenue—a 2014 Lexus IS350. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on 09-21-23 and 2:00 p.m. on 09-24-23.
 
  • 700 block of Southgate Avenue—a 2011 Infiniti G37. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on 09-22-23 and 6:30 a.m. on 09-23-23.
 
  • Unit block of Muirwood Drive—an attempted theft of a 2015 Ford Transit. Occurred on 09-11-23 at approximately 2:42 a.m. The ignition assembly was destroyed, and the ignition was punched. This is the same vehicle mentioned above in the Vehicle Burglary section.
 
  • 100 block of Willits Street—an attempted theft of a 2012 Kia Soul. Occurred on 09-11-23 at approximately 4:10 a.m. The steering column was damaged.
 
  • Peoria Street and Evergreen Avenue—an attempted theft of a 2016 Kia Soul. Occurred on 09-11-23 at approximately 5:03 a.m. The ignition was damaged. This is the same vehicle mentioned in the Vehicle Burglary section above.
 
  • 100 block of Willits Street—an attempted theft of a 2013 Hyundai. Occurred on 09-11-23 between 5:30 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. The ignition lock cylinder was damaged, and the front and rear driver’s side windows were smashed. **Online report.
 
  • 100 block of Oliver Street—an attempted theft of a 2018 Lexus GS. The rear driver’s side window was broken. The suspect attempted to start the vehicle; however, the vehicle alarm went off causing the suspect to exit the vehicle and leave in a white Chevrolet Camaro. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 5’6” tall, 140 pounds, and wearing a mask and all-black clothing with the hood on. Occurred on 09-14-23 at approximately 7:49 p.m.
 
  • Parking garage on the 2000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—an attempted theft of a 2016 Kia Forte. Occurred on 09-20-23 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. The ignition was damaged.
 
 
Miscellaneous (4 Weeks)
 
  • There were 548 cases taken.
 
  • There were 42 domestic disturbance cases reported.
 
  • There were 20 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
 
  • There were 59 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
 
  • There were 6 cases for public intoxication.
 
  • There were 14 hit-and-run collisions reported.
 
  • There were 24 narcotics-related cases taken.
