INCIDENT: PC 422(a) Criminal Threats
LOCATION: Yucca Valley High School, 7600 Sage Avenue, Yucca Valley, CA, 92284
SUSPECT(S): 17-year-old Resident of the Town of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): County of San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at about 8:30 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station received a report of suspicious behavior at Yucca Valley High School, involving a student who mentioned bringing a gun to school.
Deputies conducted an investigation and spoke to staff and students, including the suspect. Deputies and members of the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station's Detective Bureau served a search warrant at the suspect's residence and ultimately arrested the juvenile for criminal threats. There was no gun located at Yucca Valley High School, nor was there evidence the suspect ever brought a gun to school.
This case serves as an excellent example of a student doing the right thing by reporting suspicious behavior. The Morongo Unified School District Staff and members of the Sheriff’s Department worked together toward a quick and safe resolution.
