Flood Watch and Hazardous Weather Outlook in Effect Friday 
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch and Hazardous Weather Outlook for our area, beginning 2:00 AM Friday and lasting through Friday night. The current forecast anticipates 2 to 4 inches of rain, with localized amounts in excess of 5 inches possible. Rainfall rates in excess of 1 inch per hour are possible.
The Department of Public Works will be monitoring known problem areas and continuing to clear stormwater drains throughout the day.
Residents are advised that this amount of rainfall in a short period of time may result in temporarily overcharged storm drains. This is not unusual for significant rainfall, and typically the excess water dissipates after a short time. The Westfield Police and Fire Departments will also be monitoring road conditions, and will advise the community if any detours become necessary.
