Flash flood warning issued; Heavy traffic; Avoid unnecessary travel; Hop cancelled
The National Weather Services has issued a flash flood warning for Hoboken and the surrounding areas. The City is experiencing flooding in low lying areas due to continued heavy rainfall.
The Office of Emergency Management asks residents to limit all non-essential travel.
Heavy traffic is occurring in northern and southern regions of the City due to multiple street closures caused by flooding.
OEM reminds residents not to walk or drive around barricades or through flooded areas. Driving through floodwaters can be dangerous. Stranded vehicles can impede emergency responses. Do not remove flood advisory signs or move barricades from flood-prone areas.
Residents should report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.
Hop Service suspended
All Hop shuttle services is suspended today, Sept. 29.
Street cleaning suspended
Street cleaning is suspended today, Sept. 29. All waste collection will occur as regularly scheduled.
Recreation Programs Cancelled
All outdoor City recreation programs have been cancelled for today, Sept. 29. At this time, indoor and weekend recreation programs will continue as scheduled.
Discounted parking
Discounted parking at a special rate of $5 per 24-hour period in Garages B (28 Second St.) and D (215 Hudson St.) for residents with a valid Resident On-Street Parking Permit or Temporary Parking Permit is currently limited. This rate will expire at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30., while space is available.
The Midtown Garage is now closed and at capacity.
As a reminder, discounted garage space is available on a first-come, first-served basis and garages often reach full capacity during significant weather events.
