ARRESTS MADE IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE
SUNNYVALE, California - On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at approximately 10:39 p.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (SDPS) Officers responded to a report of gunshots and a vehicle collision in the area of Hawthorn and Arbutus Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He received immediate treatment at the scene and was subsequently transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
After an extensive investigation, SDPS detectives were able to identify three suspects involved in the case. On September 28, 2023, a coordinated multi-agency operation was conducted to apprehend these individuals.
The SDPS SWAT team, with assistance from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s SWAT team, safely took Elder Caballero-Valencia and Destinee Armenta into custody at a residence in Modesto. SDPS officers also safety took Raymond Gantt into custody in Sunnyvale.
SDPS detectives collaborated with the Stockton Police Department’s SWAT team in serving a search warrant at a residence in Stockton.
Caballero-Valencia, Armenta, and Gantt have been booked on various charges, including attempted murder, accessory to attempted murder, and conspiracy.
