TRAFFIC ADVISORY – Heavy Rain May Produce Flooding

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reports that due to this weekend’s anticipated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, many streets may be flooded and should be avoided by drivers.
Showers and a possible thunderstorm are anticipated this afternoon. Some storms may produce heavy rain. Tonight, showers and a possible thunderstorm are likely before 2 a.m. followed by a chance of heavy rain.
The listed locations should be avoided by drivers due to the potential for flooding.
The Department of Public Safety is coordinating responses to burglar alarms, flooding conditions, and other weather-related incidents through the combined use of Police, Fire, and Office of Emergency Management Personnel.
Special attention should be given to unsecured outdoor furniture, awnings, refuse, and building materials.
