Advisory

Hoboken under State of Emergency; Avoid non-essential travel; Rec cancelled

The City of Hoboken remains under a State of Emergency, with additional rainfall, heavy at times, expected into the late afternoon and evening hours. Flooding is likely in low-lying areas. The next high tide for our area is at approximately 9:10 p.m.

Mayor Bhalla and the Office of Emergency Management ask residents to avoid all non-essential travel and remind residents not to walk or drive around barricades or through flooded areas. Driving through floodwaters can be dangerous. Stranded vehicles can impede emergency responses. Do not remove flood advisory signs or move barricades from flood-prone areas.

Residents should report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.

City Cancellations and Closures

The Hoboken Multi-Service Center is closed for the rest of today.

Hop shuttle service is cancelled for the rest of today and is currently scheduled to operate as normal tomorrow.

The City’s waste container distribution, scheduled for tomorrow, is cancelled. A new date will be announced in the coming days.

All City recreation programs are cancelled for the rest of today and tomorrow.

Waste collection

All waste collection will occur as regularly scheduled unless a road is closed due to flooding. Please do not place garbage in areas that typically flood, or in floodwaters.

Discounted parking update

While the City is offering a special rate of $5 per 24-hour period in Garages B (28 Second St.) and D (215 Hudson St.), Garage B has limited availability and Garage D is currently at capacity and closed.

Hoboken residents with disabilities who possess either a handicapped license plate or hang tag for their permitted vehicle may also park in the Midtown Garage (371 Fourth St.) for the same reduced rate, although availability remains limited.

The special rate is scheduled to expire at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30.

As a reminder, discounted garage space is available on a first-come, first-served basis and garages often reach full capacity during significant weather events. Residents are encouraged to follow City social media accounts for updates on availability, including the Hoboken OEM Twitter page at @HobokenOEM and the City’s Twitter page at @CityofHoboken.
