Full Notification

The Seward Highway has been reopened to traffic. 

The Seward Highway was closed by law enforcement between Nash Road and Exit Glacier Road for approximately one hour for the safety of the public due to a barricaded individual with a firearm near the Highway.  The individual surrendered to the Alaska State Troopers without further incident.  There were no injuries to anyone involved.

The rumors about an escaped inmate are false and there is no further danger to the public.
