INCIDENT: Vehicle Theft, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm: No Serial Number, Possession of Marijuana for Sales, Possession of Narcotics

LOCATION: 8300 block of Cherry Avenue, unincorporated Fontana
8700 block of Locust Avenue, Fontana

VICTIM:        Adult Female / State of California

SUSPECT: Paul Lopez, a 39-year-old resident of Fontana
Jeremy Carson, a 43-year-old resident of San Bernardino
Gustavo Urquiza, a 40-year-old resident of Fontana


SUMMARY: On Thursday, September 28, 2023, at about 9:45 a.m., Fontana deputies learned a vehicle was stolen from the 8300 block of Cherry Avenue, in unincorporated Fontana. The victim reported Paul Lopez, accessed her residence and later stole her vehicle. Lopez fled to an unknown destination. Deputies documented the vehicle as stolen and obtained an arrest warrant for Lopez.

Around 3:50 p.m., deputies learned the vehicle was being driven in the Fontana area. Through investigation, deputies confirmed the vehicle entered several other jurisdictions, including the cities of Rialto and San Bernardino, before returning to the Fontana area.

With the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation, deputies located the vehicle, with the license plates hidden to avoid detection, in the 8700 block of Locust Avenue, Fontana. Several subjects were contained and detained.

When the vehile was recovered, deputies located a firearm with no serial number, marijuana, narcotics, and items indicative of the sale of marijuana. The vehicle was returned to the rightful owner.

Lopez was arrested for vehicle theft. Jeremy Carson, was found to be a convicted felon. He was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm with no serial number, as well as possession of marijuana for sales. Gustavo Urquiza, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. Urquiza was issued a citation and released in the field. Lopez and Carson were arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
