Police Seek Help Identifying Robbery Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s assistance in identifying the below-pictured suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
At approximately 8:20 p.m. a man who exited a bus at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Springfield Avenue was approached by a male suspect who struck him with a closed fist, causing the victim to fall to the ground. The suspect then went through the victim’s pockets and stole his wallet containing a debit card, $30.00, and other personal property. The suspect then fled on foot heading north on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard toward Springfield Avenue.
The suspect is described as a Black male, in his early twenties. He is approximately 5’7” tall and was clean-shaven at the time of the incident.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
