Wilmington Police have arrested a man on drug charges following an investigation.
Beginning in August, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into illegal drug sales in the 500 block of South VanBuren Street. On September 20, at approximately 12:53 p.m., police executed a search warrant in that block and took 51-year-old Leroy Cook into custody without incident. Police recovered 5.096 grams of heroin, 8.9 grams of crack cocaine, .45 caliber ammunition, $951, and drug paraphernalia.
Cook has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $95,000 cash-only bail.
