Media Release From The Camden County Prosecutor's Office- Deptford Man Arrested and Charged in Gloucester Township Stabbing
Gloucester Township, N.J.- Detectives have arrested and charged a man in reference to a stabbing last night in Gloucester Township, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins.
On Sunday, October 1, 2023, at approximately 11:49 p.m., Gloucester Township Police Department officers responded to the La Bonne Vie neighborhood for a report of a male stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old male suffering from stab wounds. The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Gloucester Township Police Department learned that the victim had been stabbed by a male suspect during an incident outside on the unit block of Dickenson Drive. The suspect was ultimately identified as 30-year-old John Brant, Jr. of Deptford. Brant was charged with 1st-degree Attempted Murder, 2nd-degree Aggravated Assault, 3rd-degree Aggravated Assault with a Weapon, 3rd-degree Possession of Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and 4th-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. He was taken into custody this morning and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a forthcoming pretrial detention hearing.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
