Window Art Show & Window Art Walk, Sunday 10/8
Main Street Highland Park, the Highland Park Art Collective, and the Highland Park Arts Commission bring you the annual showcase of artwork from local artists starting at 3:00 p.m. at (Garden Party, 60 Raritan Ave) and ends around 5:30 p.m. at (Pino’s, 13 North 4th Ave).  Walking tour participants get a drink ticket and pizza at Pino’s at the end of the walk!
 
Flu Clinic, Tuesday 10/10
Get prepared for flu season by getting your flu shot at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue between the hours of 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. This event is sponsored by Middlesex County and a consent form must be completed in advance.  For more information, please call (732) 819-0052.
 
Blood Drive, Tuesday 10/10

Annual Townwide Garage Sale, Saturday 10/14 & Sunday 10/15
Residents are invited to join Main Street Highland Park and Century 21 for the annual town-wide garage sale. Click here to sign up to sell your stuff in front of your home or downtown at the Welkovitz Pavilion area at 212 Raritan Avenue. 
 
Genesis Brass Quintet Concert, Sunday 10/15

Join the Safe Walking & Cycling Committee and the New Brunswick Bicycle Exchange for a free bike repair workshop downtown at the Welkovitz pavilion at 212 Raritan Avenue at 3:00 p.m. Bring your bike and come out to learn some basic maintenance skills!
 
Halloween Costume Parade & Festival, Sunday 10/22

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, Saturday 10/28 & Sunday 10/29
Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
 
Trunk or Treat with the HPPD, Monday 10/30
Join the Highland Park Police Department for this annual event from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Ave. If you wish to decorate a car, please contact Officer O’mara at [email protected].

Halloween on the Avenue & Jack-O-Lantern Contest, Tuesday 10/31
Start your Halloween fun downtown for downtown trick-or-treating at businesses all over the downtown, a jack-o-lantern carving contest, and spooky live music from Mike Noordzy and Sleaze Greaze under the Welkovits pavilion at 212 Raritan Avenue from 3:00 to 5:30 pm.
 
Free Groceries distribution by H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays 10/3, 10/10, 10/17 10/24 & 10/31   
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support.  Distributions are held every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Zone 6 Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
 
Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays 10/12 & 10/14 & Saturdays 10/26 & 10/28
The Highland Park food pantry distribution will take place at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue. Visit the Borough website for additional dates. For more information contact Nicole Huff at (732) 819-0052.

Bulk pick-up by Appointment, Wednesday 10/4, 10/11, 10/18 & 10/25
Reminder to residents that Bulk Waste Collection are by appointment and can be scheduled on Wednesdays during the month of October. To make an appointment, please call Public Works at 732-247-9379.  Each household may request up to two collections per year.

Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult and youth programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough.  

Raices Cultural Center Programming at the Environmental Center
Online registration is open for Raices Cultural Center's fall introductory classes on Bomba Dance, Afro-Cuban Dance and Drumming. Classes take place at the Eugene M. Young Environmental Center at 20 River Road. For more information, email [email protected] or call 917-583-4797.
