The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southeastern Kiowa County in south central Kansas... Northwestern Barber County in south central Kansas... Northeastern Comanche County in south central Kansas... Pratt County in south central Kansas...

* Until 1045 PM CDT.

* At 1006 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Iuka to near Coldwater, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near... Pratt, Preston, Coats, and Croft around 1010 PM CDT. Sun City around 1015 PM CDT. Sawyer and Cairo around 1020 PM CDT. Lake City around 1025 PM CDT. Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include Isabel. This warning replaces the previous warning which was in effect for portions of Kiowa, Comanche, Pratt, and Barber County.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
