Robbery at Whole Foods
On October 3rd, 2023, Redwood City Police 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch received a report of a robbery at the Whole Foods grocery store, during which the Suspect insinuated to the cashier he was armed with a gun.
The investigation revealed the Suspect, 32 year old Juan Linares Cesena, entered the Whole Foods and approached the cashier. He then demanded the cashier hand over money from the cash register, while posturing and insinuating that he was armed with a gun. The cashier complied and the Suspect fled the store. An alert customer followed the Suspect to an apartment on Vera Avenue and called police. At the same time one of the Suspect’s family members called 9-1-1 to advise the Suspect had come home with a large amount of money.
Officers and Detectives surrounded the home and engaged the Suspect in an effort de-escalate the situation. The Suspect was eventually taken into custody safely and he was eventually booked into the county jail for the robbery, as well as an outstanding arrest warrant.
