A controlled burn, TODAY in Novato, will release a plume of thick visible smoke. Please do not call 911 to report. 
A controlled burn along Big Rock Ridge in northern Marin is expected to release smoke that will be in full view 10:00am to 5:00pm. Marin County Fire Department asks the community to refrain from calling 911 if they see smoke from the burn area.
Smoke will be visible today.. The 200-acre operation is a fire fuel reduction effort to assist with mitigating future fire risk.
The participating agencies including, Marin County Fire Department, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and Novato Fire Protection District, are on hand to support these critical operations. Fire agencies take extra precautions by checking the weather hourly along with coordinating with the National Weather Service. Heavy equipment will be on site including the PG&E UH-60A Black Hawk, equipped with an 850-gallon internal water tank for initial attack firefighting operations.

Un incendio controlado a lo largo de Big Rock Ridge en el norte de Marin es esperado emitir humo que estará a la vista desde las 10:00am hasta las 5:00pm. El Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Marin pide a la comunidad el favor de no llamar al 911 si ven humo en la zona indicada.
El incendio controlado comienza hoy, 3 de octubre, y continúa hasta el 5 de octubre. El humo será visible los tres días. La operación de 200 acres es un esfuerzo de reducción de combustible para ayudar a mitigar el riesgo de incendios en el futuro.
Los organismos participantes, entre ellos, el Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Marin, CAL FIRE y el Distrito de Protección contra Incendios de Novato, están presentes para apoyar estas operaciones críticas. Las agencias de bomberos toman precauciones adicionales verificando el tiempo cada hora junto con la coordinación del Servicio Meteorológico Nacional. Equipamiento adicional estará en el sitio, incluyendo el UH-60A Black Hawk de PG&E, equipado con un tanque interno de 850 galones de agua para las operaciones de ataque inicial de extinción de incendios.
