Narrative: | |||||
On 9/25/2023, a local Thousand Oaks resident was hiking in the open space located near the Arroyo Conejo Nature Preserve in Thousand Oaks, when he found skeletal remains in the ravine. Deputies from the Thousand Oaks Patrol Station responded to the scene and located the skeletal remains. Personnel from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau, Forensic Services Bureau, and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to investigate, and later confirmed the remains were that of a decomposed human. Due to the condition of the remains, the decedent could not be identified at that time. On 10/5/2023, the Medical Examiner’s Office, with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Forensic Services Bureau Fingerprint Unit, identified the human remains as those of Taylor Thompson, who had been reported missing last month. The manner and cause of death remains unknown, pending further investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to call Ventura County Sheriff’s Sergeant Albert Ramirez at (805) 384-4761. |
