PC 417- Brandishing a Firearm or Weapon
       PC 215- Carjacking

SUMMARY: On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at approximately 4:00 P.M., Rancho Cucamonga deputies responded to a road rage incident where a man brandished a firearm. During an area check, Deputy Nehls located the involved vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit the driver reached speeds over 100mph and drove in a dangerous manner. Based on the driver’s recklessness, high speeds, and traffic the pursuit was cancelled.

Deputy Nehls continued his investigation and identified the suspect driver as Julian Garcia. A records check revealed Garcia is currently on probation for CVC 2800.2- Felony Evading.

On Thursday, October 5, 2023, Multiple Enforcement Team investigators located Garcia’s vehicle in San Bernardino. A traffic stop was attempted, and Garcia again failed to yield. During the pursuit, Garcia’s vehicle collided with a pole on 40th Street and North Waterman Avenue. Garcia ran from the disabled vehicle armed with a gun and carjacked another driver. Garcia fled in the victim’s vehicle and collided into a parked car on 48th Street and North Waterman Avenue. Garcia ran and was taken into custody shortly after.
