Suspect arrested for two separate violent felonies that occurred in downtown Redwood City

For Immediate Release
SUBJECT: Suspect arrested for two separate violent felonies that occurred in downtown Redwood City

DATE/TIME: October 6th 2023

LOCATION: Courthouse Square, Redwood City

Media Information: On September 20th 2023 an elderly male victim was stabbed in the chest while at the rear of the Redwood City Main Library. An RCPD Investigation identified Redwood City resident Brian Grijalva (18) as the suspect.

On October 6th, just after midnight, a Redwood City Patrol Officer proactively located Grijalva at Courthouse Square. He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for felony assault with a deadly weapon.

RCPD Detectives did follow up and determined Grijalva was also the suspect in a separate, strong armed robbery with a juvenile victim. This occurred on September 30th near the Century Theatres in downtown Redwood City. He was additionally charged with a felony robbery.

The Redwood City Police Department strives to make our downtown area as safe as possible and we will continue to actively seek out criminals who cause problems there and anywhere else in the city.
