ATTACK ON ISRAEL
Statement by Township Manager Dean Kazinci
Today we learned about an unconscionable appalling attack on Israel by Hamas who coordinated a massive, coordinated land, air and sea assault killing hundreds of Israelis and injuring a thousand more. I have been in contact two Council members currently in Israel who experienced the attack firsthand. I'm happy to report they are safe after taking shelter when the bomb sirens were activated. We pray for their safe return to Teaneck, and for all Teaneck residents currently in Israel.
There is never any justification for terrorism. The Township stands in solidarity with the government and people of Israel and extend our condolences for the Israeli lives lost in these attacks.
This should have been a day of joy and happiness for Israelis celebrating the end of Sukkot, and the beginning of Shemini Atzeret, but turned into an unprecedented multi pronged attack by the Hamas militant group.
I have spoken to our police chief, and he has assured me there are no credible domestic threats to our area. They remain in constant communication with our counterparts on the County, State and Federal levels and will continue to use all resources to keep our community safe.
