On October 8, 2023, at approximately 8:45 pm West Covina Police Department responded to a shooting at Big Bob’s Liquors & Market, located at 1413 West Puente Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the 34-year-old clerk suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital but did not survive.
It appears two males entered the store and stole merchandise. The victim confronted the men at which time a shooting occurred. The two men are believed to have fled in a vehicle.
Detectives are still actively investigating and do not have additional information regarding the suspects or suspect vehicle at this time.
The victim’s identity will be released by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office in the near future.
