Advisory
As the City of East Chicago’s commitment to improve and maximize its water distribution system for future generations, the East Chicago Water Department will be implementing a Fire Hydrant Maintenance Program during the month of October 2023. This program will entail inspecting, documenting, and maintaining approximately 600 fire hydrants throughout the City. The program will also ensure that we comply with the standards and every hydrant within our City can be expected to perform properly and reliably whenever it may be needed in an emergency.
If you experience interruption of water service, the service will return upon completion of the specified work. If you experience discoloration in your water, clear the pipes in your home/business by running all water faucets for a few minutes; or if you experience low water pressure or volume seems low, please check your faucets and washer screens for trapped debris. Resident or customers may also visit our website at www.eastchicago.com or contact the Water Department at 219.391.8469, for additional information relating to this program.
