INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision
LOCATION: 73900 Block of Twentynine Palms Highway, Twentynine Palms, CA
INVOLVED PARTY(S): Edward DeCastro, 23-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
Cyrilo Martinez, 42-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
SUMMARY: On Saturday October 7, 2023, at approximately 7:25 p.m., deputies assigned to Twentynine Palms responded to the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Cienega Drive for a two-vehicle traffic collision, where one of the drivers was trapped inside of his vehicle. San Bernardino County Fire responded to the scene and extricated the trapped driver from his vehicle. The driver was transported by Morongo Basin EMS Ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to the Hi-Desert Medical Center by Morongo Basin EMS Ambulance.
Both drivers received significant injuries from the traffic collision. The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
