Juvenile Arrested for Attempted Murder
 
A juvenile male was arrested after stabbing incident in Central Park.    
 
San Mateo, CA – On October 9, 2023, at 8:21 p.m., a juvenile male was arrested following an incident where he stabbed another juvenile at Central Park, located at 50 East 5th Avenue.  San Mateo Police Department received a 911 call stating someone had been stabbed.  Several officers responded in emergency response and quickly located the victim in Central Park with a stab wound to the left side of his body.  The suspect had fled the scene of the crime.  Officers provided first aid at the scene to the victim while medics were on the way.  Once an ambulance arrived on scene the victim was transported to a local hospital.   
 
During the initial investigation, officers learned the suspect and victim knew each other and officers were able to identify the suspect.  Officers learned the suspect left on a bicycle after stabbing the victim.  Multiple officers searched the area for the suspect and witnesses.  Many witnesses were located and interviewed.  The suspect, a 12-year-old male, was located by SMPD officers walking on the 800 block of North Humboldt Street.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident and will be booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall.
