Traffic Incident 
On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, Middleton Police officers were dispatched to Ace Hardware at 2540 Allen Boulevard for a report of a car vs. building. It was determined that the suspect intentionally rammed his vehicle into the building to force entry. The suspect then stole several items.
Upon arrival, the driver retreated to his vehicle and would not comply with officers' requests to exit the vehicle. The driver fled the scene and was located at Allen Boulevard and University Avenue, where he struck a pedestrian and another vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.
The driver continued and came to a stop a short distance away, where he refused to exit his vehicle. Assistance was requested from the Madison Police Department and the Dane County Sheriff’s Department, to include a negotiator. Officers were able to disable the vehicle and the driver was taken into custody.
The driver was transported to a hospital for evaluation. Investigation is still ongoing. At this time there is no threat to the community and the suspect is in custody.
