SUSPECT(S): Peter Campos, 35-year-old resident of Yucca Valley

SUMMARY: On August 30, 2023, deputies responded to Twentynine Palms Junior High School regarding allegations of child abuse.
During the investigation, physical child abuse allegations were substantiated and Peter Campos was identified as the suspect. Campos was previously arrested by the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Department in 2021 for PC 273a(a) - Child Endangerment, after abusing the same victims. On October 11, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued for Peter Campos.
On Thursday, October 12, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a search warrant was served at Campos’ residence. During the service of the search warrant, Campos was arrested and a stolen loaded .38 special revolver, ammunition, and psilocybin mushrooms were located inside of his bedroom.
Campos was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for PC 273a(a)- Child Endangerment, PC 29800(a)(1)- Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC 30305(a)- Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and HS 11370.1(a)- Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed. Campos is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of a $65,000 bail.
