El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from October 1st to October 7th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from October 1st to October 7th.

October 1st


Warrants/Disobey an Officer/Battery/Possession of a Controlled Substance- San Pablo/ Hill St
At 8:04 AM an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During a records check the officer discovered the driver had three outstanding warrants for their arrest. During a search incident to arrest the driver was found to be in possession of fentanyl. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to ECPD for booking. During booking the driver said they were ill and requested medical personnel. While officers and medical personnel were providing the driver with medical treatment, they began kicking at officers. The driver was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. While at the hospital the driver attempted several times to bite a nurse who was providing them with medical treatment. Once medically cleared, the driver was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

DUI/ False ID to an Officer/ Warrants- San Pablo Ave/ Stockton Ave
At 11:52 PM an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. During the investigation, the driver gave the officer a false name. Upon learning of the driver’s true identity, a records check was conducted, and the officer discovered they had six outstanding warrants. After booking, the driver was issued a citation for the DUI and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility for the warrants.

October 2nd

Auto Burglary – 9895 San Pablo Ave. Peet’s Coffee
At 7:21 AM the victim’s front passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle was shattered, and property was stolen from inside the vehicle. 

Stolen Vehicle – 6400 block of Schmidt Lane
At 3:10 PM the victim reports that their vehicle was stolen. 

Hit and Run/ Recovered Stolen Motorcycle- 900 Block of Arlington Blvd
At 6:15 PM an officer reports the victim was driving northbound on Arlington Blvd. when a motorcycle was traveling in the southbound lane. As the rider was making a turn around the curve, he veered into the northbound lane and collided with the victim. After briefly speaking with the victim, the rider pushed the motorcycle southbound on Arlington Blvd. As officers were responding to the scene, another caller advised the motorcycle was left in front of his residence blocking the driveway. An officer conducted a records check of the Vehicle identification number and discovered the motorcycle was reported stolen to Oakland PD on 9/7/2023.

October 3rd

Grand Theft – 6500 block of Gladys Ave.
At 1:45 PM the victim reports that their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle.

Vehicle Tampering – 1700 block of Elm St.
At 6:44 PM the victim reports that a suspect shattered the driver’s side window to their vehicle, rummaged through it but did not steal anything.  Occurred between 10/1/23 – 10/3/23.

Theft of License Plate – 6120 Potrero Ave (Los Moles).
At 8:57 PM the victim reports their rear license plate was stolen from their vehicle while at the restaurant.
 
October 4th

Criminal Threats/Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 900 block of Elm St
At 8:35 AM the victim reports that two months ago, on separate occasions, his former landlord pointed a gun at him up and held a knife to his throat, threatening to kill him. 

Stolen Vehicle – 400 block of Everett St
At 11:43 AM the victim reported their vehicle was stolen last night between 8PM to 1AM.   

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Central Ave and Everett St.
At 7:35 AM an officer located a reported stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was recovered, and the owner was notified.
 
Possession of Controlled Substances11511 San Pablo Ave. (IHOP)
 At 2:07 PM officers were dispatched to the report of a subject passed out inside of a vehicle.  The suspect was in possession of 7.2 grams of crack cocaine.  The suspect was transported to the hospital for a possible overdose.  

October 5th  

Stolen Vehicle – 1000 block of Havens Place
At 7:38 PM the victim reported their vehicle stolen.

Shoplifting – 10057 San Pablo Ave. (Pastime Hardware)
At 3:51 PM the suspect entered the store, stole merchandise, and fled in a vehicle towards Carlson Blvd.

Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway)
At 2:54 AM officers were dispatched to a welfare check of a subject loitering in front of the business.  The subject had an outstanding burglary warrant for his arrest.  The subject was arrested and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

October 6th
 
Vandalism – 6400 Block of Schmidt Ln
At 7:13 AM Officers report the victim’s vehicle was vandalized causing approximately $16,000 in damages. 

Vandalism – 1500 block of S. 56TH St.
At 8:01 AM Officers report an office window was broken. 

Vandalism – 10700 block of San Pablo Ave
 At 8:17 AM Officers report a suspect broke the front door with a rock.

Public Intoxication/Restraining Order Violation – 11382 San Pablo Ave (Atlas Liquor)
 At 1:13 PM Officers were dispatched to Atlas liquors in response to two males fighting.  Officers arrived and contacted a male physically fighting with another male inside of the store.  It was discovered one of the males was the protected party in a restraining order with the other male as the restrained.  The restrained party was heavily intoxicated, was placed under arrest, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Robbery – San Pablo Ave at Bart Path
 At 4:34 PM a victim reported a suspect approached them while holding a metal pole and demanded property.  When the victim did not provide anything, the suspect struck them twice with a two foot long metal pole.

Petty Theft – 11450 San Pablo Ave
At 5:16 PM the victim reported their rear license plate was stolen off their vehicle between 4:10 PM and 4:30 PM.
 
Attempt Robbery- Knott Ave/ Junction Ave
At 11:41 PM an officer reports the victim was confronted by two suspects who demanded their property. When the victim refused to give up any property the suspects began to beat them.
 
Warrant Arrest- 1200 Block of Liberty St
At 1:06 AM officers were dispatched to the area in regards to a suspicious person. Officers located the subject wandering in the area and made contact with them. A records check was conducted on the subject and officers discovered he had an outstanding warrant out of Alameda County. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
 
October 7th

Commercial Burglary – 4020 El Cerrito Plaza  
At 4:53 AM four suspects entered through the front door of Classy Nail Salon’s business and stole an ATM and the cash register. 

Grand Theft – 1100 block of Arlington Blvd.
The victim reports that between 11PM on 10/06/23 to 8:30AM on 10/07/23 a suspect stole three tires and rims off their vehicle. 

Stolen Vehicle – 1700 block of Arlington Blvd.
At 3:32 PM the victim reports their vehicle was stolen from in front of their residence.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon- 10012 San Pablo Ave (Pic-N-Pac Liquors)
At 7:11 PM a victim advised a group of 10- 15 juveniles to not block the sidewalk with their bicycles. Two of the juveniles confronted the victim and assaulted him with a metal tool and fled the scene.

Armed Robbery- 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave
At 12:29 AM an officer reports three victims were confronted by an armed suspect who demanded their property.  The suspect stole property and fled the scene.
