OPD Arrest Individuals Connected to Robberies and Carjackings
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating multiple cases of armed robberies and carjackings in the city.
On October 7, 2023, Oakland Police Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Prospect Avenue to investigate a reported armed robbery. Once on scene officers determined that an attempted carjacking and armed robbery had occurred.
A vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle was located in the 1200 block of Trestle Glen Road. Two individuals, one adult male, and one juvenile were arrested for robbery and attempted carjacking and are also persons of interest in numerous other Oakland robbery investigations.
During the investigation, a replica firearm and stolen property from the victim were recovered. It was also determined that the vehicle used in the crime was connected to a previous carjacking. In all, OPD recovered three carjacked vehicles.
On October 7, 2023, three individuals entered a business in the 1600 block of MacArthur Boulevard. The victim says one individual was holding an unknown object in their waistband, while the other two took money from a cash register. The individuals also took several bottles of alcohol before leaving the area in a blue Hyundai SUV. This same vehicle description had been given for several other recent robberies.
On October 8, 2023, officers in the 1300 block of 80th Avenue observed a blue Hyundai SUV traveling at a high rate of speed. OPD’s helicopter “ARGUS” followed the vehicle before officers attempted to stop the vehicle.
Three suspects were detained after attempting to flee on foot, including one adult male, one male juvenile, and one female juvenile. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen.
The male adult and male juvenile were arrested after victims positively identified them and are also persons of interest in numerous other Oakland robbery investigations.
The Oakland Police Department extends its gratitude to the dedicated officers and department staff committed to public safety through thorough preliminary and follow-up investigations, leading to these arrests.
As these incidents become increasingly dangerous, OPD urges community members not to engage with these individuals, as they can often be armed and dangerous.
