On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at approximately 07:01pm, personnel from the Petaluma Police Department were dispatched to the area of Casa Grande Rd. at Lakeville Hwy. to investigate a report of a traffic collision involving three vehicles. Officers arrived on scene to assist the involved parties. Officers discovered one of the involved drivers, Eladio Castro-Naal (31), displayed objective signs of alcohol intoxication and initiated a DUI investigation. The investigating officer determined Castro-Naal had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and placed him under arrest. Castro-Naal was subsequently transported to the Sonoma County Jail where he was booked for DUI. PPD CASE # 23-4523.
On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at approximately 09:01pm, personnel from the Petaluma Police Department and Petaluma Fire Department were dispatched to the area of E. Washington St. at Sonoma Mountain Parkway on a report of a traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle in the creek adjacent to E. Washington St., approximately 20 feet down from the roadway. The solo-occupant, later identified as Luis Garcia (43), was removed from the vehicle, and evaluated by paramedics on scene. Garcia was transported to a local hospital by ambulance due to the severity of the collision. A DUI investigation was completed. Garcia was determined to have been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and placed under arrest. Garcia was later transported to the Sonoma County Jail where he was booked for DUI. PPD CASE # 23-4525.
On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at approximately 10:13pm, personnel from the Petaluma Police Department were dispatched to the area of East D Street and Wilson Street to investigate a report of a traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers learned a vehicle driven by Miguel Santiago (27) had struck a parked vehicle in the area. Upon contact, Santiago displayed objective signs of intoxication. A DUI investigation was completed. Santiago was determined to have been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and placed under arrest. PPD CASE # 23-4527.
On Sunday, October 15, 2023, at approximately 01:43am, an officer observed a black Tesla sedan driving the wrong way on Kentucky Street. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jeremy Cabrera (23), who displayed objective signs of intoxication. A DUI investigation was completed. Cabrera was determined to have been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and placed under arrest. PPD CASE # 23-4530.
The Petaluma Police Department continues to be committed to increasing traffic safety and to reducing the number of alcohol-related collisions. Petaluma Police advise motorist to plan accordingly when consuming alcoholic beverages by designating a sober driver or sharing a ride. Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
