Catalytic Converter Theft Suspect Identified and Connected to Multiple Other Thefts
DATE/TIME: Between July 15, 2023 and August 16, 2023 (various times)
INCIDENT: Catalytic converter thefts and felony evading from a peace officer
LOCATION: Various locations in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca
SUSPECT(S): Rene Flores, 19-years-old, resident of Pomona
SUMMARY: Between July 15, 2023, and August 16, 2023, an unknown suspect was involved in several thefts of catalytic converters in Rancho Cucamonga.
On August 16, 2023, deputies located the vehicle the suspect was driving and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect failed to stop and led deputies on a vehicle pursuit through Rancho Cucamonga. During the pursuit, the suspect traveled at high speeds and turned off his vehicle's lights. Due to the danger posed, deputies discontinued the pursuit and sought other means to identify him.
Detectives identified the suspect as Rene Flores and connected him to multiple crimes in both Rancho Cucamonga and Chino Hills.
On October 10, 2023, Flores was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for CVC2800.2 - Felony Evading, PC487(a) - Grand Theft, and PC211 - Robbery. Flores posted the $80,000 bail and was released from custody. The cases were sent to the District Attorney for filing.
