Gloucester Township Residents Preferred, Open to NJ Residents
35 HOURS PER WEEK – $32.17 per hour

Duties & Requirements:
Performs office and field work required in providing continuing preventive and rehabilitative social services to clients and their families; aiding individuals/families having problems which adversely affect their family unit or personal lives: does other related duties as required.

Essential Functions:
Provide direct and referral services to children, adolescents and families involved in juvenile justice system.
Execute existing juvenile diversion programs.
Aid victims and witnesses of violent crime, elderly victims of crime, victims of domestic and sexual abuse, and child victims of crime by locating community-based services.
With Chain of Command Police Personnel prioritize, create and expand support services to community families.
Respond promptly to crisis or emergency request for service from agency.
Act as liaison between Police Department and community, county, and state social services agencies.
Conduct in-service training for department police officers on mental health topics as related to law-enforcement.
Represent agency in community or interagency activities.
Maintain high standards of confidentiality and social work ethics.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of the principles of social work.
Knowledge of the methods used to conduct interviews.
Knowledge of the methods used to gather and analyze information.
Knowledge of problems associated with those experiencing social, economic, and other difficulties.
Knowledge of the resources likely to be required by those experiencing social, economic and/or other difficulties.
Ability to gather and analyze information.
Ability to analyze and evaluate case records.
Ability to evaluate and identify client needs and provide recommendations for services.
Ability to interpret rules and regulations and apply them to specific situations.
Ability to maintain essential records and files.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those interested or involved with the work of the unit.
Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

Requirements:
NJ License Social Worker (preferred LCSW), with a Bachelors or Masters in Social Work from an accredited college or university. Two years of experience working with at risk youth preferred.

Other Requirements:
EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION WILL BE CONDUCTED. Must pass a criminal background check and maintain such security clearance throughout employment.
Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.

New Jersey residency required pursuant to NJSA 54:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), if selected for the position.

The regular work week for this position is 35 hours, following the regular daily and weekly schedule of the Police Department. This position is classified as exempt and the position requires, on an as needed basis, attendance at various events, meetings, or incidents, outside or beyond the regular work week without receiving any additional time off or compensation. Hours may be flexed to compensate for a 35-hour work week for these schedule changes.

This position reports to the Gloucester Township Police Chief of Police or designee and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Police Social Work.
