Sheriff's Deputies Respond to Suspected Fentanyl Overdose in Joshua Tree
DATE/TIME: October 10, 2023, at approximately 1:32 a.m.
INCIDENT: Drug Overdose
LOCATION: 61000 Block of Oleander Drive, Joshua Tree
VICTIM(S): 39-year-old male resident of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at approximately 1:32 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station responded to the 61000 block of Oleander Drive in Joshua Tree, reference a drug overdose. Upon arrival, the male subject was located inside the bathroom of the residence, unresponsive, due to a suspected fentanyl overdose.
Deputies administered two doses of Nasal Naloxone (Narcan) to reverse the effects of the overdose. The subject briefly regained consciousness but fell back out of consciousness. Morongo Basin Ambulance (MBA) and San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived at the residence and administered a third dose of Nasal Naloxone. The subject regained consciousness again and was transported to the Hi-Desert Medical Center (HDMC) for further treatment.
