INCIDENT: Arrest of Interest-Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Identity Theft
LOCATION: 15000 Block of Los Serranos Country Club Dr., Chino Hills (Albertson's parking lot)
SUSPECT(S): Santos Vargas, 40-year-old Resident of Norwalk
Rebecca Rodriguez, 39-year-old Resident of Norwalk
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 1:53 a.m., deputies from the Chino Hills Police Station observed a female suspect, later identified as Rebecca Rodriguez, covering her license plates with paper plates. When deputies contacted Rodriguez and her male companion, Santos Vargas, deputies observed a bag of suspected methamphetamine in plain view in the vehicle. A records check revealed Vargas had a felony warrant for a stolen vehicle in Orange County. Both Rodriguez and Vargas were detained.
During a search of the suspect vehicle, several burglary tools and stolen property were located. Rodriguez and Vargas were arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance, and identity theft.
