*10/19/2023 Incident at Harper Woods High School* 
On Thursday, October 19th at approximately 8:20 AM Harper Woods Police Officers responded to the Harper Woods High School on a report of a male student attempting to bring a handgun into the main entrance of the school. Our officers arrived, took the male suspect into custody, and recovered the firearm. The juvenile was conveyed to the Harper Woods Police Department and later taken to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility for processing.
At this time we are not aware of any threats made to students or staff prior to the incident. The weapon was discovered during the daily screening process conducted by the Harper Woods High School security staff.
