Wilmington Police arrest two men in connection with shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting incident.
On October 15, at approximately 10:08 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 300 block of West 26th Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a 22-year-old female gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Merced identified 28-year-old Isiah Portis and 29-year-old Joshua Wright as suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest. On October 19, at approximately 6:00 a.m., police executed a search warrant in the 2500 block of North Jefferson Street, and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun. Subsequently, Portis and Wright were taken into custody in the 300 block of Airport Road without incident.
Portis has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Strangulation
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
Wright has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
- Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
