El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from October 8th to 14th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from October 8th to October 14th.
 
October 8th

Trespassing/Delaying a Police Investigation/False Identification– McDonald’s 11821 San Pablo Ave.
 At 10:20AM officers placed a subject under citizen’s arrest after he refused to leave the restaurant. The male would not provide officers with his true identifying information.  After being transported to the Martinez County Jail, the subject’s true identity was revealed.
   
Burglary/Unauthorized Use of Credit Card/Identity Theft – 24hour Fitness 10636 San Pablo Ave.
At 2:05PM the victim’s backpack was stolen from their locked locker.  Staff later found the backpack, but the victim’s purse, keys, wallet containing miscellaneous cards were stolen.   The victim’s credit card was used in El Cerrito and at another store in Richmond. 

October 9th
 
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Central Ave at Yolo Ave. 
At 10:18 AM an officer contacted a subject and found a Methamphetamine pipe on their person.  The subject was issued a citation and released from the scene.  
 
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave at Eastshore Blvd. 
At 2:58 PM an officer made a traffic stop and arrested the driver for a warrant.  The driver was booked at the police department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 
 
Shoplifting – Sketcher’s 5805 Cutting Blvd. 
At 3:57 PM a suspect stole merchandise and fled the scene.  
 
Warrant Arrest – Arlington Blvd / Scenic Dr 
At 8:37 PM officers conducted a traffic stop.  The driver had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for their arrest from Orange County.  The driver was issued a citation for the warrant and released at the scene. 
 
October 10th

Petty Theft – 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway)
On October 9th at 12:30 PM the victim was shopping at Safeway when her wallet was stolen from inside her purse.

Auto Burglary – Eureka Ave at Colusa Ave.
At 11:12 AM the victim reports that the sunroof on their vehicle was shattered and miscellaneous items were stolen from inside.   
 
October 11th

Robbery – 11600 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 3:16 PM the suspect stole miscellaneous items, pushed their way past an employee and fled the store. 

Warrant Arrest – Blake and the BART Path
At 1:27 PM an officer arrested a subject for an arrest warrant.  The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.   

Warrant arrest – 700 block of Albemarle St.
At 3:54 PM an officer contacted the subject and discovered they had an outstanding warrant for their arrest.  The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting / Probation Violation – 10794 San Pablo Ave (Marshalls).
At 9:14 PM officers responded to a shoplifting that had just occurred.  Officers detained a subject who was identified by store employees and placed under citizens’ arrest.  The subject is also on active felony probation out of Contra Costa County.  The subject was later transported to county jail in Martinez.
 
October 12th

Criminal Threats – 6050 El Cerrito Plaza (Barnes and Noble)
At 10:50 AM the suspect threatened to kill the victim, while reaching into his waistband.   The suspect was contacted a short distance away and placed under arrest.  No weapon was located.  The suspect was booked at the police department and released on a citation.

Grand Theft - Arlington Ave. at Potrero Ave.
At 8:30 AM AT&T reports that approximately 75 ft of copper wire was stolen from the power lines. 

October 13th

Commercial Burglary – 7100 block of Schmidt Lane
The suspect stole approximately 1000 feet of copper wire cable.  The incident occurred from October 9th to October 13th

Auto Burglary - 7000 Block of Cutting Blvd.
An officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle. When unsuccessful, the suspect stole property.

Robbery- 10794 San Pablo Ave (Marshalls)
At 6:17 PM an officer reports a male attempted to leave the store with a cart full of merchandise and was contacted by security. The male brandished a knife and threatened the security officer while leaving the store with merchandise.

October 14th

Burglary – 1700 block Ganges Ave
An officer reports that between the hours of 2300 hrs. on 10/13/23 and 1200 hrs. on 10/14/23, the victim’s garage was opened via garage door opener and an electric bicycle was stolen from inside of the garage.  The suspect gained access to the opener via an unlocked vehicle in the driveway.

Attempt Robbery- 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky’s)
At 8:34 PM an officer reports a suspect attempted to leave the store with merchandise when employees confronted him. During a struggle over the handbasket, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened employees. The employees retained the merchandise and the suspect fled.

Stolen Vehicle - 700 Block of Kearney St.
At 5:33 AM an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle.
