The Saddle Brook Police Department is aware that an individual has been calling Saddle Brook residents and impersonating an officer. The call appears to be coming from 201-843-7000, the police department’s main phone number.
 
Police believe the individual is a man, who is likely using an app to "spoof" the agency's number as part of a scam. "Spoofing" makes it appear as though someone is calling from a specific number, when they are not.
 
A criminal investigation is currently underway of these incidents. Meanwhile, police are advising anyone who receives an unexpected call from someone reporting to be an officer of the Saddle Brook Police Department to immediately terminate the call and phone dispatch directly at 201-843-7000. Once speaking to a dispatch officer, confirm if one of our officers are indeed trying to contact you.
 
Police advise the public to never share any sensitive, personally identifiable information over the phone. That includes information such as birthdate, street address, driver's license, credit/debit card numbers or social security number.
 
Anyone who may receive a call of this nature or has information regarding this scam is asked to contact the police department at 201-843-7000.
